Palimpsest of Phantasm: An imaginary art garden vol. 6 Narita Aki

“The countless illusions spun by artists and accumulated since ancient times will coexist in a complex way that overlaps and stimulates each other, and will continue to writhe and transform forever without stopping.
And they will continue to alter reality, shaking our stalemated daily lives.”

Aki Narita is a painter who has consistently pursued the mystery of the eroticism of young girls since her youth. Although many artists today choose the allure of young girls as their theme, it is rare to find an artist who approaches as deeply as she does the core of girls, which can be seductive at times and cold at other times. Anyone who has seen her work even once will sense the awesomeness that seems to seep out from the depths of the canvas, which is what makes her paintings unique.

The girls that Narita draws do not live in bright light, but in blood-stained darkness. They have been squeezed of their youthful seduction, and are transformed into lustful fetishes of concentrated sensual intoxication. Their icicle-like gazes emanating from their clear eyes and their beautiful, alluring lips, smeared with a blood-like crimson, will instantly captivate the viewer.

Even in her erotic depictions of other than young girls, Narita’s paintings are still imbued with a strange, mysterious aura that seems to reek of blood and to have deep darkness melted into it. One could say that she is a modern-day reincarnation or relative of the femme fatale (fatal woman) that shocked the 19th century Western Symbolists and Decadents, but Narita’s portraits, nudes, and erotic depictions always contain a unique “demonic” that pierces us in an instant. A terrifying yet fascinating “demonic” that stirs up anxiety, one that seems impossible to tame or control …

Artist

Born in 1966 in Aomori .
She is a precocious and self-taught painter whose talent was highly evaluated from early on, and later expanded her field of activity to various directions including manga expression. In 2015, she participated in a big project to fill a room at the Park Hotel Tokyo with paintings by various artists, and completed a large-scale guest room mural, Geisha Goldfish.
Narita’s theme has consistently been the mysterious and enigmatic Eros that smells from a young girl, but I doubt there are many artists who have pursued that core as deeply as she does. Narita’s young, seductive fruit is sweet, yet dangerous, and will captivate us in ecstasy.
